The Facts


The Summer of Technology will bring together students, entrepreneurs, and industry professionals to leverage the expanding power of technology and teach students and community members alike the entry level skills of coding and software design.

  • Classes will be held twice weekly for 7 weeks
  • Course fees include a summer membership to Boise’s premiere startup hub— Trailhead— located in downtown Boise.

The Details


Intro to Ruby (part one)

If you’ve ever wanted to build a site like Kickstarter, AirBnb, Fivr or Indigogo then Intro to Ruby can set you on your way. Ruby is one of the most in-demand, highly paid and easy to learn/read programming languages available today. This introductory course is designed to give any beginner the basics of computer programming.

We’ll teach you to the basics of programming such as loops conditions, and metaprogramming— you bring your laptop and a strong desire to learn! *No prior coding experience required

Details: 7 weeks, May 9-June 22

Times: M, W— 5:30-8:30PM

Ruby on Rails (part two)

If you’ve ever dreamed of gaining proficiency in the most popular programming language then Ruby on Rails is the course for you! This course builds upon Intro to Ruby by introducing the web application development using the Ruby on Rails programming ecosystem.

We’ll teach you basic web programming patterns and concepts such as test-driven development, create, read, update delete, the MVC (model, view and controller), asset pipelines and ORM (object/relational mapping), source code control, site deployment, and file uploading— you bring your basic Ruby experience, laptop and ambition!
