Jay George

Director of Programs

Jay serves as the college’s Director of Programs. He is responsible for facilitating recruitment of team members and collaborators for all CID programs, overseeing project management of programs within the college, providing director support to program directors, Vertically Integrated Project (VIP) coaches, and Bridge to Career faculty. Fueled by empathy and insight, Jay hopes to develop, support and implement human-centric design and problem solving models that create and foster a high performance culture where innovative educational solutions are prototyped, refined and “graduated” to more permanent homes within Boise State University.

Jay is originally from McCloud, California, he completed his undergraduate studies at San Francisco State University with a B.A. in English. He later went on to receive a M.A. in Psychology from Sonoma State University, as well as a Ph.D. in Education from the University of Idaho. Prior to his position at the College of Innovation and Design, Jay was the Growth and Innovation Team Leader for Boise State’s College of Business and Economics/TechHelp. In past years, Jay has served as the Vice President of Human Resources/Chief Learning Officer, at the Treasure Valley YMCA, and was the Human Resources Team Leader at PowerBar, Inc.

In past years you could have found Jay teaching others how to ski the steepest lines in the Swiss Alps, driving a one horse open sleigh, completing marathons and triathlons and on the sidelines of the Lacrosse field, coaching his son and cheering on his daughter. Today, you’ll find him enjoying time with his family, learning the latest in design-thinking, and relaxing by ways of epic road rides on his beloved Colnago bike. When he stops, it’s to dream about his next trip to Europe where he’ll introduce the taco to one more small village (that’s right, he’s pretty certain he and his buddy Luciano introduced the taco to the people of Zermatt, Switzerland!)
